Innova Viking Vs Valkyrie, Used Innova Valkyrie Driver Discs Disc Golf Discs Driver

I am what i consider a beginner to disc golf.

Black grapes jam. Because of the popularity of the valkyrie it is available in just about every plastic innova has to offer. Similarities and differences similarities. The viking is a terrific distance driver for intermediate players.

I typically carry three valkyries with me during a round. Ive been throwing discs for over 30 years but playing ultimate just catch or freestyle frisbee throwing etc. Ive tested vikings in both the dx and champion plastics.

I recently just bought a used swirly gummy champion viking and i love it. This is my favorite driver. You could also check out the innova driver chart they have the profiles of the discs although the valkyrie and the viking are very similar you can see a slight hump on the underside of the rim of the viking as well as the nose might be a little more blunt.

Im just beginning to understand how these discs work with their various stats. This disc is similar to the valkyrie but with less turn making it suitable for forehand throws. The others can be used for hyzers and subtle.

How come theres no love for this disc. There are four types of discs in disc golf. It works very well with my throwing style.

Distance drivers fairway drivers mid range discs and putters. One is beat and used for long turnover shots. For beginners and intermediate players our test show that the innova viking blows any other disc out of the water.

For your convenience weve converted the ratings on all brands over to innovas system and posted the results below. Many different systems exist for rating golf discs which makes it tricky to do a side by side comparison between brands. Hopefully it is pro or star plastic because the viking is not made in either of those plastics but that would be too easy.

I tend to throw low and the valkyrie gets great distance with low thrown shots. These discs are easier to use and easier to control but wont provide the same distance impact as max distance drivers would. Dx pro champion star and even glow champion.

First post ok first thing. The innova valkyrie is likely innovas most popular beginner friendly distance driver. The innova viking is a medium speed 9 distance driver very comparable to the valkyrie but with slightly less turn 1.

The valkyrie can be used by players of all skill levels. It is a good distance driver for newer players developing form and can be used for turnover shots and rollers for more advanced players. My go to drivers went from a champion valkyrie until that turned over too much for me then a star beast which started turning too much then the cd2.
